THE iconic London tube map design has been adapted to help improve the shooping experience in Kendal.
The map’s colour-coded horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines help shoppers navigate the town’s idiosyncratic yards and one-way systems.
Backed by Cumbria Rural Enterprise Agency, 32,000 copies of the map, accompanied by a directory of shops, boutiques and specialised businesses, will be available across the north of England from March.
Cat Rumney from The Creative Branch, who has been working with local businesses on the project said: “Kendal really is a case of small is beautiful when it comes to shopping. There is no need to travel to a city when you can find it all here.
“Kendal offers a diverse and eclectic blend of local markets, lifestyle boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, second hand designer clothes, exquisite furnishings and interior design and ironmongery.”
Business leaders interested in getting their company featured on the map should contact The Creative Branch on 01539 737374.
