NOT many 16-year-olds get the opportunity to design a brand for a new company and see the results of their work so quickly on the high street.
But Annie Sharpe, of Ulverston, has achieved just that by coming up with the brand and store front design for All Carpets and Flooring, after being asked to draw up an instantly recognizable symbol for the company, based in Dalkeith Street.
Annie, who gained an A* in art at GCSE last year, was invited by the firm after impressing during a work experience placement at BAE Systems where she created a poster for the poppy campaign in Barrow, which was adopted by the town council and BAE.
She said: “I was really excited about the opportunity and presented the client with a number of different designs.
"I never expected to see my design so big a feature on a store front in Barrow.”
Annie’s ambition is to become a professional graphic artist and staff at All Trading believe she has all the qualities to achieve just that.
A spokesman for the firm said: “We were blown away by Annie’s enthusiasm and her work ethic for one so young, and we were delighted with her design and decided to adopt it for all our marketing materials and of course the store front.”
