Tina opens up Ulverston shop for sweet treats

A RUSSIAN entrepreneur has opened her own confectionery shop inspired by sweet treats in Siberia.

Tina Henshall, 32, of Ulverston, has launched her hand-crafted chocolate and coffee bean shop called Samovar in the town centre.

The business is named after a specialist metal teapot used in Russia when friends meet for shared snacks.

Mrs Henshall hopes to encourage the tradition in Cumbria, after moving to Ulverston with her British husband Alan.

She said: “I wanted to buy my mother-in-law a special gift but struggled to find the type of treats I was looking for, which gave me the idea for my own firm. I hope it provides more unusual present ideas for others.

“I’m not a great fan of chocolate but I’m a big coffee addict, and have been since I was young – so I have about 40 different flavours of coffee.

"So far, it’s going very well.”
