Heinz cuts 10 jobs in Kendal

HEINZ directors have announced they have cut 10 jobs from the firm’s Kendal base.

Nigel Dickie, director of corporate and government affairs, said the firm had reduced their base’s team of temporary staff by half.

It now has 186 employees, a reduction of 20 since March.

Mr Dickie said: “Although permanent staffing levels at our Kendal site have not changed over recent months, we have reduced our need for temporary staff, from about 20 to around 10.

“Temporaries continue to make a valued contribution where required on production and operations.”

The company refused to comment on the likelihood of further job losses at the site.

So they've cut 10 'temporary' jobs - Am I missing a key word here?

I believe Heinz employ a lot of agency staff, who although "permanently" employed, are classed as temporary and thus have fewer rights and are easier to sack and cost less than the regular staff.
I don't know if that is what is being referred to here or not.
