WORK to improve and expand the Kendal base of a much-loved cancer charity is on track for completion by the middle of June.
CancerCare manager, Peter Hearne, said the revitalised Lakes Centre on Blackhall Road could reopen to staff and patients as early as June 5, with local building firm Lowther & Dawson making great progress.
“The builders are working to a tight time schedule and are doing a fantastic job,” he said. “It will be great when we get to see the finished result. We are looking forward to celebrating the reopening with everyone who helped make it possible.”
The improvements to the Lake Centre are being funded through the CancerCare Silver Jubilee Appeal –a £2.1 million campaign to rejuvenate the local charity’s facilities in Kendal and Lancaster.
To find out more about the appeal and how you can help visit www.cancercare.org.uk, call 01524-381820 or pop into the charity’s temporary home at Castle Lodge, just of Aynam Road in Kendal.
