HELPING hands are always needed to assist with cleaning up South Lakeland's worst offending rubbish black spots.
If you know of an area, which is in urgent need of a tidy, you or a group can easily organise your own litter pick.
Contact South Lakeland District Council on 0845-050-4434 and ask for the Street Care department.
Staff at the department will be able to tell you who owns the land and will also be able to lend you the gloves, fluorescent jackets or litter pickers needed.
If the land belongs to SLDC, the Streetcare department will be able give you the green light to go ahead with your own litter pick if it is safe to do so.
If the land belongs to someone else, SLDC can find out the owner and order them to clean up their own waste. They can also seek permission from the landowner for the litter pick to take place on their land.
If you are organising a litter pick, then contact The Westmorland Gazette newsdesk or send details to mike.addison@kendal.newsquest.
