POST offices across South Lakeland are set to benefit from a Government contract to issue photographic driving licences.
The Post Office Ltd has signed a five-year contract to support the DVLA in issuing millions of motorists nationwide with their driving licences.
The announcement, made by Peter Mandelson this week, will see a number of post offices being able to allow drivers to have their driving licence application scanned, their picture taken and their signature captured electronically at the counter. The Business Secretary said the postal network must change if it is to thrive in the future.
