A NEW online support group offering advice, friendship and fun for mums and dads has been launched in South Lakeland.
Netmums is a nationwide support network that offers a wealth of parental advice and information at both a local and national level.
Now, thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of local volunteers, a special Netmums friendship group has been set up in South Lakeland, with activities already planned in Kendal and Ulverston.
Mother-of-two Debs Patten, of Kendal, has been a member of Netmums for more than a year and is keen to get other parents involved.
“I always look on the website for information about a whole variety of things,” she said. “It is also a really sociable group. There is a coffee house chat room, for example, where you can discuss all sorts of topics.”
As well as having access to the website, mums and dads that join the South Cumbria Netmums Group will have the opportunity to meet and socialise with other parents and children at monthly events.
“The first event is next Friday (August 22),” said Ms Patten. “We are meeting in Abbot Hall Park at 11am, where the kids can have a play. We will then have a nice picnic, but if the weather isn’t very good we will go to the Fun Factory, on Parkside Road, instead.”
Ms Patten would be delighted to hear from local children’s entertainers that would like to work with Netmums and anyone who is interested can contact her through her blog on The Westmorland Gazette’s website.
The blog, which will also keep people up to date with the latest Netmums news, can be found at www.thewestmorlandgazette. co.uk/families.
