A FUN event for youngsters who are the future of farming in Cumbria proved a rousing success.

A total of 250 young farmers from the county joined 5,000 from across England for the Young Farmers Club annual convention at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

Among the activities were quizzes and competitions, and Raughton Head YFC did Cumbria proud by gaining fifth place in the entertainment competition and fourth in the written pub quiz.

Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron spoke at the agriculture and rural affairs forum.

Organiser Anna Lindsay, from Kirklinton YFC, said " We had a fantastic weekend and really enjoyed meeting YFC members from other counties."
