The Area

Special

Garrigill

Garrigill is a quintessential English village nestling in the North Pennines close by the market town of Alston.

With the majority of properties being centred around a pleasant village green, the village is complemented by a traditional country pub together with Post Office and small grocery store. With many events being held within the village hall there is a strong community feel.

Alston, located approximately 5 minutes drive away, has primary and secondary schooling for mixed children together with a Co-Operative, several public houses, hospital/GP Surgery and a restaurant, a petrol station and many other local businesses.

Alston Moor lies close to the centre of England meaning it is ideally placed for access both east to Newcastle where the A1(M) is freely joined and west to Carlisle providing easy access to the M6.

The surrounding provincial towns of Penrith and Hexham are reached within a half hour drive of the property and offer a more comprehensive range of both professional and leisure services and health care. Each of these named towns have rail access to the nearby cities together with strong bus links.

Whilst being centrally located for the commuter Garrigill retains its deep rural routes and many riverside and fell side walks can be enjoyed from the village itself. Idylic and rural, it is none the lessconnected to high speed broadband internet. Several people run businesses from home.

The Property

Special

The Old Cooperative

The site of the Old Co-Op has been carefully and sympathetically dismantled ensuring that many materials are reclaimed for use in the development. The plans for the property offer a gated courtyard providing access to the main entrance hall, off which the inner hall leads to the dining room, ground floor WC and L-shaped kitchen with separate external access both to the lane and into a further courtyard. To the first floor the master bedroom is found with en suite facilities together with the second bedroom, a spacious family bathroom and large living room which takes advantage of views over the village and beyond to adjoining countryside.

The attic provides space for two further bedrooms. The rear of the property overlooks the attractive well maintained village church whilst to the front along the lane an opening allows views over the green and beyond, past the village residences to open farmland.
