A NEW organisation representing local businesses is to be formed, following the demise of Ambleside and District Chamber of Trade.

The Lakes Futures Business Forum is being launched shortly by South Lakes Development Trust (SLDT) to give support, communication and net-working opportunities to local businesses.

Bill Smith, of SLDT, said: "It is vital that local businesses are able to benefit from having a corporate voice and can work together to respond to local challenges.

"The Lakes Futures Business Forum (LFBF) will provide a new opportunity to both ensure that the opinions of local businesses are heard and responded to, and that their needs are clearly voiced to those responsible for taking decisions that affect commercial and financial vitality in the South Lakes."
