Recognising that there is nothing more rewarding than a good walk, except for the possibility of a well deserved treat the end of it, Linthwaite House Hotel, has launched a selection of six easily downloadable circular walks for the launch of the first national Get Walking Day' on 30 May 2008.
They have added an incentive of a 15% discount off drinks, lunch and afternoon tea for doing it.
Linthwaite is an integral stop on the trail and each walk downloads off the website with a map, full written instructions and a 15% Discount Voucher so that avid ramblers can set off happy in the knowledge that there is more than just a scenic treat in store.
Ranging in length from a suggested walking time of 1.5 to 5 hours, the walks cover some of the most spectacular areas in the Lake District.
Winster Valley. A quiet and secluded walk through the wonderful Cumbrian countryside and delightful Winster Valley.
Lake Windermere/Near Sawrey. A spectacular ramble along the shore of Lake Windermere covering countryside made famous by Beatrix Potter.
Far Sawrey. An excellent walk combining the shoreline with a fascinating woodland trail and the unspoilt rural countryside around Far Sawrey.
Under Mill Beck. Heading out in the direction of Crook, this walk is deal for appreciating the subtle seasonal changes of the unspoilt countryside.
Brantfell. A fantastic hike to the top of Brantfell' with a marvellous 360 degree panorama over the Southern Lakes.
Bowness-on-Windermere. A superb walk incorporating the bay at Bowness with its bustling marine activities the two splendid vantage points of Biskey Howe' and 'Post Knott'.
Arriving at Linthwaite, walkers will be well rewarded with the outdoor terrace and a delicious leisurely lunch or glass of perfectly chilled wine with a stunning backdrop over Lake Windermere and surrounding fells.
