LANCASTER pop punk band Heroes of She are back in the city after a stint in the national limelight.

Hammond organ player James Mackie, drummer John Elles and singers Amy Worth and Helen Longworth fought off their rock rivals to be selected as the North West finalist in this year's BT Battle of the Bands competition after wowing a judging panel of industry experts.

The four-some narrowly missed out on winning the competition, which would have secured them a centre-stage place at this year's Isle of Wight festival.

But it was a great experience for the band, which has only been together for just over one year.

Amy says: "It was an amazing experience and it was great to perform at the BT Tower alongside really good bands, which was a pleasure. It was such a buzz and we gave it everything we could and when I came off stage I wanted to go back on again."

"We were so happy when we were named North West finalists because that in itself was a great achievement," Amy told the Citizen.

She says that she entered the competition after her husband saw the article in the Citizen and adds: "I am really pleased that he saw the article and that we decided to go for it"

The group will release their new album Never Going Home and their single Don't Love Me in September.

Adds Amy: "We originally got together to do cover material but then we started writing our own music and thought it was too good to waste and so we are hoping to take our material to the next level."
