Cycling instructors needed

TWO hundred cycling instructors are being sought in Cumbria to deliver the new Bikeability scheme, the successor to the old Cycling Proficiency Certificate.
The programme, which was first piloted in 2006, began to be rolled out nationally last year.
Known as the "cycling proficiency for the 21st century", it is now the only government-approved and nationally recognised award for cycle training.
But the programme can only be delivered by qualified instructors accredited to new national standards.
In Cumbria, the training is being provided by Capita through Cyclewise, which says new instructors are "urgently needed".
It takes four days to become a fully accredited instructor, followed by an assessment while training youngsters. There is also a two-day option.
