THE forthcoming production by Burton Amateur Dramatic Society is another feather in the cap of local playwright John Peel.
Starting All Over is a bittersweet story of relationships and how things can have unforeseen consequences when people interfere in the lives of others. The cast includes Paula Firth, Alison Flanders, Felicity Holloway, Paul Rossi, Doreen Steele, and Alyson Yates.
There will be two performances in Burton-in-Kendal Memorial Hall, tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday, with the curtain up at 7.30pm.
A third performance is being staged at the Kirkby Lonsdale Institute on Friday, May 23, in aid of the North West Cancer Research Fund, which is a ticket-only event.
The Burton society was formed before 1953, and puts on a couple of first class shows each year.
However, this weekend's production is the swansong for BADS stalwart Alison Murphy, who is apparently hanging up her producer's hat and retiring gracefully to the wings after many years of treading the boards and producing.
As for John Peel, he was born and raised in West Cumbria and is a direct descendant of the legendary huntsman of the same name. After a career in the construction industry, he turned to writing.
Now living in Kirkby Lonsdale with his wife Daphne, John has several short and full-length plays under his belt as well as a debut novel, Hot Property, which is set around Morecambe Bay, and was published in 2002.
His WI Blues play was premiered by BADS in July 2005.
Tickets for Starting All Over cost £6 and are available from Alison Murphy on 01524-781007 or at the door.
Details for the Kirkby Lonsdale performance are available from John Peel on 015242-72818.
