A BEAUTIFULLY situated and historically important country house and estate looks set to sell for millions of pounds, having already received national and international interest.

Located on the shores of Ullswater, near Pooley Bridge, the Eusmere Estate was built in the late 18th century as a country retreat for Thomas Clarkson –a leading abolitionist.

A figure of great national importance, Clarkson helped William Wilberforce during his campaign to abolish slavery, enlisting a great deal of support throughout the country and particularly in Cumberland and Westmorland.

With such an interesting and colourful history –the most recent owners being the Lord and Lady Kagen, it is not surprising that when the estate was put on the market through Penrith Farmers & Kidd’s Estate Agents it attracted potential buyers from all over the world.
