EAGER festival goers snapped up early bird tickets for Kendal Calling in a record time this morning.

Five hundred limited edition passes sold out in one minute.

The remaining tickets are priced at £85, but organisers have come up with a recession-busting deposit scheme to secure a ticket for £30 and pay the rest later.

Director Ben Robinson said: “We'd like say a massive thanks to everyone who has shown such early support for the festival.

“It gives us a big boost and we will be working even harder to make Kendal Calling's fifth birthday the most amazing weekend yet."

The festival will double in size this last year, with 8,000 tickets and eight stages planned for the sprawling grounds of Lowther Deer Park.

The event take place from Friday, July 30 - Sunday August 1.

Previous years have seen artists including Dizzee Rascal, Chase and Status, The Zutons and Pendulum grace the Lakeland stages.

The popular event was nominated for Best Grass Roots festival and Best Small festival at 2009 UK Festival Awards.
