TEXTILE and mixed media artist Norah Ball is staging her first solo exhibition at Farfield Mill.

Containment is running at the Sedbergh arts and heritage centre’s Dover Gallery until August 31, and combines weave, print, felt and stitch, occasionally straying into other media.

The Clitheroe-based artist explains that reflections and shadows have had a strong influence in her work, drawing on the natural and built environment, as well as hinting at social and cultural issues. She explained: “I like to think about the form and function of natural and man-made features, the interplay between them, and man’s place in the scheme of things, both influencing and influenced by surroundings.”

Farfield is open 10.30am to 5pm.
