TENNESSEE Williams’ The Glass Menagerie is in the spotlight at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake from July 30 to November 3.
The classic American drama - directed by Ian Forrest - is a heavily autobiographical play set in the 1930s in an apartment in St Louis, Missouri, the city in which Williams grew up.
The play premiered in Chicago in 1944 and was Williams's first successful work for the stage before he went on to become one of the United States most highly regarded playwrights.
It focuses on family relationships which are as fragile as the glass animal figures cherished by shy Laura Wingfield.
The Glass Menagerie is at Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake from Friday, July 30 to Wednesday, November 3. Box office on 017687-74411.
