CUMBRIA’S best acoustic acts will converge on the picturesque village of Ravenstonedale for a weekend of music, culture and food at MACfest this year.

After a massively successful event last summer Mostly Acoustic Cumbria will bring MACfest back for a second year at the Black Swan Hotel on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11.

Kirkby Stephen folk newcomers the Righteous Bees have garnered a bevy of fans and a strong reputation this year and look set to take the crowds by storm.

Ambleside natives Indian Postal Service will join the line up, while ceilidh act The Wierdstring Band will play their usual brand of high energy music.

They will be joined by Appleby acoustic folk band Late Draft, fresh from their performance at Solfest last weekend. Despite forming less than a year ago, the trio of Appleby Grammar School teens are currently recording their first EP and look set to be a highlight of the festival.

Kirkby Stephen’s Paddy Rogan will bring his soulful acoustic tunes to the show while Rob Heron and the Tea Pad Orchestra will play a mixture of folk, swing, calypso and Balkan sounds and improv-blues act The Slabs will play some foot stomping tunes.

More great music will come from BlueJam Cumbria, Midnight Moses, Jess Thomas, Slarkrise, Gail Bashall, Bill Lloyd, Unkle Carbunkle, Stooshie, and Room Full Of Mirrors.

Throughout the weekend there will be craft stalls, an acoustic space, face painting, children’s workshops, a night time lantern procession, street entertainment, real ale and food.

Tickets cost £35 for the weekend, £15 on Friday, £20 on Saturday, available from Mad Monks Music, in Kendal, The Black Swan Hotel in Ravenstonedale or www.mostly acoustic cumbria.co.uk.
