THE work of an artist chosen to paint the portrait of the Queen as part of her jubilee celebrations will be coming to Kendal.

Displays and prints by Darren Baker, who specialises in hyper-realism and was the official artist at the London Olympics, will be on show for one week only at the town's Northern Galleries, after its owner, Mike Baggs, was appointed Darren's exclusive UK agent.

Darren is the official artist to the PFA, a Garrick prize winner and the winner of FATG Artist of the year, among other awards.

At a recent auction, held during a testimonial dinner for Jonny Wilkinson, a portrait of the rugby star painted by Darren sold for £50,000.

The Times have described his work as ‘thrilling and virtuosic’ and ‘an investors dream’.

“Darren is a phenomenal talent," said Mike.

"It’s a great coup to be able to bring Darren’s work to Kendal, albeit for only a week!"

Northern Galleries is located in Elephant Yard. Darren's work will be displayed from Saturday until November 1.
