TIM Leeson's latest exhibition has brought a vivid and extremely expressive selection of art to Kendal's Brewery Arts Centre with some of his best work to date.

Running until June 28, Tim says the selection of work in Inside Outside focuses on his love of 20th Century art: "The untitled drawings may seem challenging but that isn't my intention. I used an art for arts’ sake attitude towards their creation.

"The starting point of these works is the urinal or womb-like shape in the background; these relate to my interest in the work of Marcel Duchamp.

"The works are created automatically and I have no preconceived idea how they may turn out. Text, exhibition flyers are cut up and randomly stuck on. It's about having fun and not achieving a high level of finish.

"Balance is important to me. I suffer from a mood disorder and my semi-abstract landscape paintings emphasise the diversity of my work. Sometimes my landscapes are quite turbulent in feeling. For this exhibition I have included landscapes which show my current optimism."

Originally from Barrow, Tim moved to Kendal in 2007.

He helped set up Kendal Arts Community and currently runs art workshops at Creative arts hub in the town.

Inside Outside follows Tim's successful Beach Huts exhibition at Kendal's Cafe Sola, which marked the 10th anniversary of his mother Jennefer Elaine Leeson's death.

He added: "I have a long and enduring passion for modern art and it's history. I thank my father Harvey Leeson for this, although we do not see eye to eye all the time he was responsible for introducing me to art from a very early age."
