WELL-known figure in the region's arts world Mary Gavagan is celebrating her sixth year at the helm of her own gallery that many regard as "a hidden gem in the heart of Settle.”

Mary - who owns and is curator of Gavagan Art - has staged more than 30 acclaimed art exhibitions in recent years by professional artists from all over Britain, including many with a national profile.

Before setting up Gavagan Art, Mary was director of the Lancaster University art gallery for more than 20 years.

Established in 2010 and originally located at Linton Court, Mary's Gavagan Art gallery moved to a new central space at the refurbished town hall in Settle in spring 2015.

Exhibitions have included paintings, drawings, original prints, sculpture and ceramics.

Running until Saturday, October 22, Gavagan Art's Six Years in Settle autumn exhibition showcases a range of work by more than 20 artists, including Norman Adams, Rebecca Scott, Milan Ivanic, David Cook, Heather Cook, Frank Gordon, Chris Rigby, David Thomas, Derek Setford, Katharine Holmes, Adrienne Craddock, David Knight, Chris Murray, Margaret Uttley.

The exhibition also features new work by Sarah Smith and Bridget Tempest.

Ceramics included are created by Clive Bowen, Rick Henham, Peter Swanson, James Hake, Christy Keeney, James Hake, Delan Cookson, Chris Prindl, Mike Dodd, Rebecca Callis and Anna Lambert.

The gallery is open Wednesday-Saturday, 11am-4pm.
