WITH 90 exhibitors at more than 40 venues the Silverdale and Arnside Art and Craft Trail promises to be an absolute cracker.

Running from this Friday-Sunday, June 23-25, the must-see creative gathering is hosted within the iconic landscape of the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the edge of Morecambe Bay, well-known for its amazing wildlife, stunning scenery and superb walks; it's no wonder thousands of art lovers flock to the area to immerse themselves in some of the best art around.

Among the established painters showing their work will be John Baldwin, a marvellous abstract artist best known for his experimental paint techniques and for the national success of works produced on Levi jeans and Adidas trainers.

Also exhibiting is Janice McGloine, who is raffling one her pictures in aid of Alzheimers Association.

Janice has developed a unique quirky style which relates to happy memories of her childhood and her love of architecture. Working mainly in acrylic, her paintings reflect a simple, idyllic world.

Paintings don't come much brighter than those from the creative hand of Christine Rooney, one of the region's terrific talents, whose strong and vibrant colours show on paper what she sees and feels in the world around her, deftly using brightly coloured inks, acrylics and watercolour with subject matter often depicting local village life, harbours and landscapes.

Virginia Clucas, Jayne Lancaster, Tracy Levine, Jill Colquhoun and Peter Threlfall are also included among the 25 or so other highly thought of local painters showing their work in various studios and group venues.

A wide range of ceramic techniques feature in the trail produced by ten very different potters, including Jan Huntley-Peace, John Calver, Wyn Abbot and Lizzie Star.

Some display their wares in the main trail venues, others in individual places in Yealand, Waterslack Barn, Stankelt Road and the new Pier Lane Gallery at Arnside.

Other artforms such as photography, textiles, printing, glass, jewellery, wood, paper, metal and are also well represented in the trail.

Photographer James Park and Clare Martin are also in the frame, so too is craftsman Duncan Copley, whose bespoke furniture and sculptures unlock the grain patterns of native woods, and the line-up of gifted textile artists includes Caren Threlfall.

As for stained glass work check out Debbie Copley's range of unique bird and animal sculptures.

Also featured during SAACT are activities and workshops for all ages - painting, weaving, printing, working with clay, paper making, embroidery, as well as children's book readings, music recitals and demonstrations of coppice work.
