WINNER of this year's Upfront Open Exhibition is one of Cumbria's most popular painters, Frances Winder.
Kendal-based Frances's watercolour and gesso painting Menai Strait from Newborough Warren was voted the people's choice during the Hutton-in-the-Forest gallery's annual art showcase, winning her a box of pencils donated by the Derwent Pencil Company.
Frances is breaking new ground in her painting exploring the changing seasons in abstract form as well as her usual acclaimed representational work.
In addition to showing at Upfront, Frances had three paintings chosen for the recent Royal Watercolour Society exhibition at London's Bankside Gallery, which is next to Tate Modern.
