Artist Thuline De Cock lands award

ONE of the region’s leading artists has been voted runner up in the Best-selling Up and Coming Artist category in the Art and Framing Industry Awards 2009.Kendal-based Thuline De Cock, best known for her fascinating and bold observational paintings of animals, particularly cows, received the award at a stylish black tie and long frock ceremony at Brandon Hall, Coventry, hosted by the Fine Art Trade Guild.

Each year the guild brings together all sectors of the industry - businesses large and small - in a celebration of art and framing's biggest successes and greatest achievements over a 12-month period.

Thuline’s paintings have been published by Alpha1 marketing since last year.

So far, the company has published 13 of her limited edition prints.

Meanwhile, the Best-selling Published Artist prize went to another popular artist who often exhibits in Cumbria - Hexham-based Mary Ann Rogers, one of the most acclaimed watercolour painters in Britain, whose quirky, highly engaging paintings of sheep, foxes, hares, geese and notable species of hens, are well-known to many of the county’s art lovers.
