6:30pm Tuesday 31st July 2012 in Art
By Adrian Mullen, Arts correspondent
TWO of the region’s best known artists feature in this year’s Kendal Art Society annual exhibition.
Running at Kendal Town Hall from Saturday (August 4) until August 18, among the work of more than 120 KAS members featuredc in the popular show will be pieces by Bill Jones and Kate Bigland.
For many years Bill - who owns Finestra gallery, at Kirkby Lonsdale - painted exclusively in watercolours, and built up a good reputation for his landscapes and local views. He also paints in oils and more recently has developed techniques in pastel painting, with various subjects from Scottish coastal scenes to sunsets and Venice studies.
Meanwhile, Kate, another of Lakeland’s leading painters, works in pencil, conte, watercolour and oils drawing inspiration from the life model, still life objects, flowers, faces and the landscape.
Open 10am-5pm, except Sundays.
