FARFIELD Mill is well known for its high quality art and crafts exhibitions and its latest show by members of the Embroiderers Guild can only enhance its five star reputation.

The guild is the national home of stitch and textile art and the international voice for embroidery. Last year it celebrated the 300th anniversary of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown birth with a truly magnificent collection of work inspired by the talent of the extraordinary, radical landscape designer.

The amazingly imaginative art can be seen in Capability and Creativity at Farfield Mill until July 30.

In addition, Paisley Panels are contributions from Embroiderers Guild members and young members from all over Scotland.

The Paisley Panels were first displayed in Paisley Town Hall at the Scottish Regional Day in 2016, and are a celebration of the great textile heritage of the town of Paisley: weaving, spinning, dyeing and thread making.

Also showing at the Sedbergh arts and heritage centre is an exhibition of work by the Durham Guild of Spinners Weavers and Dyers.

Chinese Whispers uses the theme of passing on one idea to the next to generate new and interesting creations. The Durham guild took as its starting point a beautiful stained glass window from Durham Cathedral, which was designed by Mark Angus and is based on the image of the Last Supper.

Farfield Mill is open open daily from 10.30am-5pm.

Free entry is offered to LA10 residents on Sundays.
