SOME of the exciting visual treasures from the Wordsworth Trust’s own art collection are on show from September 1 in A Celebration of Watercolours.
Running until December 23, the Grasmere exhibition will celebrate 30 months of collecting watercolours with the assistance of the WW Spooner Charitable Trust. Included will be works by celebrated artists such as Joseph Farington, William Gilpin, John Laporte and William Green. Also featured will be lesser-known artists who equally present the beautiful and intricate details of the landscape in their work. The centrepiece of the show will be Ouse Bridge (1725), an impressive example of the work of Mathias Read (1669-1747).
On show in the museum next to Dove Cottage. Open daily 10am-4.30pm.
