THE full culinary line up has been revealed for Taste Cumbria Ulverston Food Festival which returns to the town for its second year.

Food and drink lovers will be in with the chance of discovering the secrets behind some of the county's successful ventures with demonstrations from chefs and experts.

On the menu is Scott Fairweather, head chef at Crosthwaite's Punch Bowl Inn, food supplier Gary McClure, wild boar farmer Peter Gott, of Sillfield Farm and Ben Queen-Fryer, head chef at Ford Park's Coach House, Ulverston.

Around 10,000 people descended on the market town to shop, eat and drink and the bank holiday weekend starting on Saturday May 23 is expected to be no different.

Marie Whitehead, director of CN Events which is organising the festival, said: “We’ve already got more than 50 stalls signed up for the traders’ market and we’re really pleased with our line up of demonstrations from the food and drink experts.

"This year’s festival is definitely promising to be even bigger and better than last year.

“It seems the biggest worry is how long it’s going to take them to make enough food and drink to last the weekend – loads of traders sold out last year!”

Families and foodies alike will find much to enjoy during the Whit Weekend.

The Stan Laurel pub hosted the launch of this year’s festival, and assistant manager Laura Simpson said: “This festival is such a great opportunity to promote the town and it is brilliant that businesses and producers get to work together as a local team.

"It gives Ulverston a name for food and really showcases what we can do.”
