SOME of Cumbria's biggest culinary names will come together to put the county's food on the map.

Michelin-starred chef Simon Rogan is among the star's set to appear at Taste Cumbria, in Cockermouth, from September 26 to 27.

Along with Simon, whose restaurant L'Enclume was once again crowned the 'best in the UK' this year, there will be a book signing from Great British Bake Off finalist Richard Burr, and an appearance from Olympic skier and Lakes Distillery brand ambassador Chemmy Alcott.

Festival organiser Marie Whitehead said: “I think this year’s festival is shaping up to be another fantastic success.

"There are some old favourites and some new faces in there and they offer something for every food and drink lover."

Market Place and Market Street in the town are set to be transformed into a food court and market featuring cooking and cocktail demonstrations.

Families will also love the free Grub Club masterclasses where Andy Walsh of The Coffee Kitchen will be making creative pizzas.

The adult masterclasses, hosted at Riversmeet in Market Place, also feature lots of local experts, making everything from the perfect coffee to sushi, baking and cooking with fish.

Jennings Brewery is set to host a beer festival running throughout the weekend.

The weekend will feature cut price brewery tours as well as wine tasting session and musical entertainment.

Ms Whitehead added: "We’re really excited by secret location for the pop-up restaurant – as we’d hoped, no-one’s guessed where we’re hosting it yet.

"We’re also excited by the line up of chefs for our masterclasses and free demos."
