Whatever you choose from the menu at Morecambe Thai – you will just not be disappointed, as the food is wonderful.

My husband and I, along with my young children, went for dinner after work one night and ordered lots of different dishes to dip into and share, including Tom Yam Gai soup, Thai fishcakes, Pad Mama, noodles and a variety of rice.

The exterior, which is bright orange, screams ‘Thai food’ when you drive past it on the promenade in Morecambe.

Once inside, it is clear work to spruce up the old building and the restaurant is under way. And upstairs, where we ate, was light and airy with nice views over Morecambe Bay.

In my opinion, it is not the cosiest of restaurants and the decor is not to my taste, but the food more than compensates.

The staff were very friendly and prompt with their service, despite the fact it took us ages to decide what to order as there was lots of choice.

For starters, I tried the Tom Yam Gai soup, which was a warm and spicy explosion of great flavours, and the fishcakes were well balanced with a lovely lemongrass taste and scent.

For main course, I chose Mamung Chicken with coconut rice. The dish was jammed full of flavour and each mouthful was delicious.

I also tried the Pad Ped chicken and the Pad Mama – which again were packed with meat and vegetables and bursting with flavour I had a small bottle of house wine and was not too impressed – it was rather harsh. But given the top-notch quality of the food at such reasonable prices, I was not really grumbling.

My verdict: a must-try for anyone who wants to try Thai food near to that of Thailand.

And according to my five-year-old, the restaurant has the ‘best noodles ever’. Now, she has not been to Thailand, but as an advocate of Thai food I have to say that I agree with her.

VERDICT A myriad of tasty, authentic dishes.
