What do celebrity chefs, sporting heroes and good home cooks have in common? The answer is a love of cooking with British turkey! The best of their recipes have been collated in a handy little book packed with great ideas.
The Little Book of Great British Turkey Recipes, published by Simon and Schuster UK Ltd, contains 21 original recipes ranging from TV sports presenter Gaby Logan's new take on lasagne, to rugby hero Martin Johnson's favourite chilli burgers. All the celebrity contributors are patrons of the children's medical research charity SPARKS, and the charity will benefit every time a book is sold. There's also a selection of family favourites from keen home cooks - like the Turkey Chilli Sarah Williams serves for a girls' night in.
Sports commentator Matt Dawson has created a creamy Turkey Korma while TV chef Lesley Waters favours Turkey Koftas. There's a fabulous recipe for meatballs by sports presenter Gary Lineker and a winning recipe for Rolled Turkey by champion jockey Frankie Dettori.TV chef Nick Nairn has come up with a parma ham wrapped turkey dish, while sports pundit John Inverdale favours a vibrant Rainbow Stir Fry.
Celebrity chef Phil Vickery, who has written the foreword, along with a couple of recipes of his own, says: "British turkey is tasty, versatile, healthy - and something all the family can enjoy. As a family man myself, I firmly believe in giving my children food they relish as well as food that is good for them."
The Little Book of Great British Recipes is initially available via britishturkey.co.uk for £4.99 plus p&p. British turkey is donating a percentage of the price of every book sold to SPARKS, for which it has already raised more than £30,000.
