The Kendal Limestone Way by John Coppack £14.99
This new book follows the spectacular limestone landscape on a linear walk from the “rugged hills and towering cliffs of pearlwhite” in the uplands of the Yorkshire Dales National Park through Malham, Settle, Clapham, Ingleton, Kirkby Lonsdale, Levens and then into Kendal over Scout Scar where the “precipitous limestone ridges form a barrier between the Lakeland hills and Morecambe Bay.”
Each stage of the walk has detailed descriptions of the paths and plenty of features highlighted to guide the walker. They are brought to life with full colour photographs and historical, geographical and archaeological details.
Although the walk is 63 miles in length, this book is written in such a way that it would be easy to break it down into smaller walks in order to take more time to admire the wonderful and dramatic surroundings.
