WOODLANDERS should be a Bible for tree-lovers.
Its author says the book is for ‘anyone who has discovered a personal connection with trees, woods and forest life through whatever route’, and it is impossible to disagree with him.
People mentioned include Wendy Martin, who looks after ‘Wendy’s Wood’ with her volunteers on Ullswater’s shore – thought to be the smallest community woodland in Britain and a sanctuary for red squirrels.
Another is Owen Jones, who works in the Rusland Valley making traditional Furness swill baskets.
The book features some fabulous photographs Nature fans will find it both entertaining and informative.
