WEST Yorkshire based Kimber’s Men will be appearing at The Coronation Hall, Ulverston, on February 7.

Probably the finest and funniest purveyors of sea shanties in Europe, this group never fails to entertain.

Appearing at festivals all over the world and featured only last month for the second time on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch, Kimber’s Men have made six CDs and generated a strong following.

The group now comprise Joe Stead (Ship's Doctor), John Bromley (Ship's Cook), Neil Kimber (Bosun), Gareth Scott (Powder Monkey) and Michael Beeke (Drummer Boy).

Michael plays the Northumbrian Pipes and has added a completely new dimension to the sound since joining the band two year ago.

Comedy, unusual for shanty singers, make up a good part of the show.

They come to Ulverston fresh from performances in Village Halls throughout Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire and also North Lancashire where they received standing ovations at every performance.

The band recently performed at the prestigious National Maritime Museum in Greenwich and were invited back again in September for the Greenwich Tall Ships Festival where they performed in front of 3,000 people.
