LANCASTER and District Choral Society's spring concert is on Saturday, April 25 (7.30pm) with a magnificent mix of Baroque and modern music.
Zadok the Priest is the well-known first movement of 4 Coronation Anthems by Handel, which opens the Lancaster Priory concert, with another Baroque favourite Haydn's The Heavens are Telling also in the programme.
In contrast, the choir sings Bernstein's Chichester Psalms and a song medley from West Side Story.
Conducted by John Perrin, piano accompanist is Richard MacGregor with Ian Pattinson on the organ. Harpist is Anna Kate Pearson and Dianne Bird plays percussion.
Phillip Alton is the treble soloist. Aged 12, from Ripley St Thomas Academy and St Oswald's, Warton, choirs, Phillip is learning to play both saxophone and piano. He recently gained the prestigious Royal School of Church Music Silver Award for singing.
Tickets are available from Lancaster (01524-582394) and Morecambe (01524-582808) visitor information centres.
