A TRIO of musicians from 1990s Kitchenware signings HUG have returned with a new band and a blistering debut album.

Mechanical Mouse Organ are 75 per cent North East based, but guitarist George Kitching has lived in

Barber Green, near Cartmel, for the last 13 years.

George is one of the three band members formerly in HUG, whose brief career saw them hotly tipped by everyone from Mark Radcliffe to the NME and Melody Maker, who described their first record as “the most state-of-the-art sounding single in the pile.”

A HUG reunion in 2011 paved the way for the new band and a harder-edged, more rock-oriented direction.

Mechanical Mouse Organ’s debut album, ‘Get Over It’, was recorded in March at First Avenue in Newcastle with drummer, Dave producing.

Dave is an accomplished sound engineer who, this year alone, has worked with everyone from Barry Hyde to Kobadelta to metal legends Satan.

He favoured a near live approach, working fast with few takes and fewer overdubs to capture the freshness and energy of the band’s stage sound.

Said George: “Our aim was to make ‘Get Over It’ a tonal journey from Revolver to the Raconteurs, an exuberant, cathartic, vibrant and soulful experience, that grabs your ears and goes for your heart.”

The album is scheduled for release as a digital download through Bandcamp and the band’s own Revenge Western website on July 3, but is available to pre-order now.
