EMILY Hennessey is well-known for telling tales. Real whoppers, bursting with magic and marvel, wit and wonder.

Soon, the Cartmel Fell storyteller will take to the stage for a family event as part of the prestigious Lake District Summer Music festival bringing to life one of the most joyous and gripping traditional Russian folk tales - Firebird.

A fresh adventure for LDSM, Emily will be in spellbinding form at Windermere's Carver Church on Sunday, August 9 (3pm).

Wife of storyteller and musician Nick Hennessey, her recent performances include a tour of India with the British Council, the Royal Opera House, the Viking Ship Museum in Denmark, Soho Theatre and Beyond the Beyond Storytelling Festival.

A bold and dynamic performance storyteller, Emily recounts myths, legends, epics, folktales, fairytales and fables from around the world, and with a Swedish background, she has a particular passion for Norse mythology. Work and travels in India have also infused her with a great love of Hindu myth and epic.
