A LIVE music all-dayer to mark Independent Venue Week is taking place at More Music in Morecambe on January 30, featuring bands from the independent music scene, nationally and locally

Independents Day promises to be a great day of live music, including acclaimed bands such as Maia, Haiku Salut and Louis Barabbas who have all gained regular national airplay and play at major festivals.

The local music scene is well represented too, with performances by Dan Haywood’s Pill Fangs, Quakers Stang, Stephen Hudson & the Fiat Pandas and Plainview, with more to be announced.

Also celebrating Independent Venue Week is The Brickyard, Carlisle, with Launchpad - a taster of the best in local and up-and-coming live music.

The gig on January 29 features Subterranean Sound Machine, a one-man multi-instrumental mashup of alternative, punk, funk, soul & rock’n’roll, Carlisle’s newest punk and grunge-fuelled noise-mongers Hot Hot Death, Penrith’s own melodic folk-punk miscreants Beachmaster and The Shameful Bronze - Annan's finest finest alt-rockers.

Independent Venue Week is a national campaign to celebrate the UK’s small venues and independent promoters, with gigs taking place throughout the country.
