MARYPORT Blues Festival has today announced its lineup and that it will host a special fundraising event to help people who were hit hard by the winter floods in Cumbria.

The festival, which is always held on the last weekend of July in the Cumbrian seaside town, will also raise funds towards the ongoing costs of the recent floods, at a specially organised event on Sunday June 12 between 2pm and 10pm.

The main festival will feature established headline acts such as Royal Southern Brotherhood, The Blues Band and The Ian Siegal Band.

It has three stages: the Main Stage by the marina, the Outdoor Stage at Elizabeth Dock and The Trail: a collection of pubs and venues.

Richard Townend and The Mighty Bosscats will open proceedings with a set including The Maryport Blues, which they wrote for the festival.

For the fundraiser on June 12, bands will appear in the Marquee Venue

Profits will go to the Cumbria Community Foundation and all artists are giving their time and talent free.

David Park, Chairman of Maryport Festivals Ltd said: “Many people in Cumbria were badly affected by the floods this winter and, being part of the community, we are keen to do something to help them."
