A SEDBERGH and Kendal-based musician who has made his name in Germany and Denmark is playing a rare gig on home turf.

Folk singer-songwriter Brendan Lewes will play at Ruskins on April 8 in support of his second EP 'The Sleepy Troubadour'.

Also on the bill are Sedbergh-based pop-punk band Rich and the Poor.

Inspired by traditional old folk music, Brendan uses vocal loops, harmonicas and guitars to provide backing for his songs.

A relentless tourer who is always on the road, his latest EP developed over a year of travelling Germany playing everywhere from folk clubs to smoke houses.

'The Sleepy Troubadour' follows debut EP 'Weather the Storm', which came out in 2014.

Despite his frequent travelling - and his transatlantic influences in Bob Dylan and Tom Paxton - Brendan's songs remain rooted in his north west upbringing.

Brendan's music is available on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, Spotify and iTunes.

Rich and the Poor released their debut EP 'Let's Go Nowhere Together' last year and recently appeared on BBC Radio Cumbria.

Entry to Ruskins on April 8 is free, and the music will start at 9pm.
