A KENDAL record label is to release the new album of two exciting young folk musicians.

Watermark Music will release Tenmours' debut EP 'A Poet's Heart' on Monday, July 18.

Tenmours is a duo made up of aspiring musicians who came together while studying at Leeds College of Music.

Guitarist and vocalist Alex Johnston-Seymour and violinist Ross Tennant went to Glasgow to record the EP, working with engineer Geoff Allan.

Speaking of the recording process, Alex said: "It was an experience we never thought we would get to have at our age.

"The studio was amazing. There was a mic that the Beatles used at Abbey Road and the engineer had worked with lots of our favourite folk bands as well as musicians like Paolo Nutini.

"Obviously no job comes without its trials but the experience really improved mine and Ross' knowledge of studio work."

Tenmours played a number of gigs throughout 2015, including several appearances on BBC Radio Leeds.

It was these performances that culminated in the recording of the EP in Scotland, which was then mixed in Cumbria and mastered by acclaimed Hungarian folk musician Nikola Parov in Budapest.

As well as writing and performing the songs, Tenmours used the EP as an opportunity to collaborate with other musicians.

Singer-songwriter Nigel H Seymour contributed to two of the songs, and performed on the recordings of these tracks for the EP.

Nigel said: "I was given the opportunity to listen to some of the boys' music. In my mind it was immediate.

"I'd written a couple of songs previously, and so I casually asked these two guys if they would care to record them with me.

"There is a tremendous musicality and maturity demonstrated within the tracks on this recording which cannot be ignored when you take into consideration these two boys were barely 18 years of age when we began work on this project."

Tenmours plan to follow the release of the EP with more shows, with a tour being planned that will include Cumbria and Scotland.

'A Poet's Heart' is released on Monday, July 18.
