A MULTI-AWARD winning musician who mixes traditional Irish music with a political message is to play the Brewery Arts Centre.

Singer songwriter Damien Dempsey, who was recently confirmed as support of Morrissey's forthcoming tour, is bringing his set to venues in England and Scotland this October.

His latest album, "No Force On Earth," is a celebration and commemoration of the Easter uprising of 1916 that saw the birth of the Irish Republic.

In his homeland Damien is held in the highest regard by peers and audiences and as well as a string of number 1 albums he has a haul of Meteor Awards.

Amongst the tracks he wrote himself for the latest album is 'Black Bank Folk', a song about Damien's great aunt Jinny, who was at the heart of the Easter Rising.

Renowned for his live performances, Damien has received acclaim for his combination of traditional and contemporary music, coupled with the storytelling aspect of the songs.

He will launch another new studio album in 2017 and return to touring with his band in the meantime.

Damien Dempsey will play at the Brewery on Saturday October 22.
