Folk music enthusiasts flocked to Staveley this weekend for the second Lake District Folk Weekend.

The festival which was organised this year by a volunteer group of local folk fans, led by Steve and Sandra Harrison from Staveley village.

The headline acts, appearing at the River Bar at the Hawkshead Brewery, included Amy Kakoura singing folk and blues, with Andrew Sharpe on piano, ex of Steamchicken.

Also headlining was Chris While and her daughter Kellie While, a singing duo; with local songsmith Paul Metsers. The Roundhouse hosted a concert with singer songwriter Reg Mueross; with local acts Pandora's Handbag; Mark Dowding; and last year's festival organisers Jessica Lawson and Phil Simpson.

The fine weather enabled events to take place in the garden of the Eagle and Child pub, including a session from local musician Bill Lloyd on banjo with Diana Denny from the Lyth valley on mandolin.

Tunes sessions with a wide variety of instruments, including harp and Galician pipes, wowed the audiences and kept the feet tapping. Songs from around the world as well as traditional British songs were performed at Wilf's Cafe and Cafe Eclec, by a wide range of talented performers including many from the South Lakes.

The organisers want to thank the community of Staveley for all their support to the event, and particularly to thank the local businesses for their support and sponsorship, "They have all just been superb".
