A TRIO of hotly anticipated gigs are to take place at The Old Laundry this winter.

Three bands, all hailed for their live performances, will play back-to-back at the Windermere venue, giving fans a taste of folk, swing and world music.

Sarah Melhuish, marketing manager at The Old Laundry, said: "We’ve got an eclectic trio of gigs at the Old Laundry this autumn. Sheelanagig will be a lively, energetic show and we can’t wait! The hot six piece of Rob Heron and The Tea Pad Orchestra will bring a mixture of western, swing and ragtime while Jamie Smith’s Mabon will compliment the two with its Celtic music – a band beyond borders."

First up is Sheelanagig on Friday November 25. With a history of touring all over the world, from the Scottish Islands to Italy, they play a mixture of folk, jazz and world music.

Firm favourites at big UK festivals including Glastonbury and Green Man, they also include street theatre, storytelling and acrobatics into their live show. They welcome stage invasions and audience participation.

Following Sheelanagig is Rob Heron and The Tea Pad Orchestra.

Hailing from Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the band perform their own brand of 'North Eastern Swing', which incorporates western swing, gypsy jazz, blues and country.

Fond of a solo and early 20th century American music, Rob Heron and The Tea Pad Orchestra perform as a six piece which features guitar, mandolin, accordion, double bass and drums.

They play arrangements of classic songs from their chosen period, as well as original songs, always ensuring that their songs tell stories of interesting characters, loaded with satire.

The final band to feature in this run is Jamie Smith's Mabon; a British roots and world music band known for their musical virtuosity.

The Welsh band have won multiple awards for their music and performances..
