THE Promenade Concert Orchestra presents its 10th New Year Viennese Concert at The Platform at Morecambe on Sunday, January 29 (3pm).

The programme includes, Suppe’s Poet and Peasant overture, Strauss’s, Wine, Women and Song, and Accelerations waltzes, Perpetuum Mobile, the Blue Danube waltz and Radetzky March; a Waldteufel Mon Reve’ waltz along with a seasonal surprise.

Sharing the stage with the popular PCO led by Julian Cann, will be international prizewinning soprano, Raphaela Papadakis, performing arias by Lehar, Puccini and Gounod.

Raphaela's winning ways include first prize in the Mozart Competition, Clonter Opera and Audience Prizes, Maureen Lehane Vocal Award and York Early Music Festival Prize at the London Handel Festival.

She has also performed at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London, as well as Garsington Opera, Carnegie Hall at New York and Banff Centre in Canada.

As part of PCO's concert celebrations the ensemble welcomes once again the internationally travelled, Turning Point Theatre Arts of Lancaster to dance to the audience under its director, Gail Johnstone. The concert, as always, will be conducted by PCO founder and musical director, Howard Rogerson, who also celebrates 25 years of conducting this year.
