Critically acclaimed folk band The Furrow Collective plays live at More Music in Morecambe on Saturday 17 June.
Alasdair Roberts, Emily Portman, Lucy Farrell and Rachel Newton are four soloists with a mutual love of traditional songs, from both sides of the English and Scottish borders, with boundary-defying musicianship.
Formed in 2013, the band released albums on their own ‘Furrow Records’ label.
Second album, Wild Hog, on new imprint Hudson Records.
Again produced by Andy Bell and building on the success of its predecessor, Wild Hog shows a marked development in the group’s sound and approach, featuring guest musicians Alex Neilson (Trembling Bells) on drums and Stevie Jones (Sound of Yell) on double bass.
The Furrow Collective has toured extensively throughout the UK as well as in mainland Europe.
Their eclectic lineup features fiddles, guitars, banjos and concertinas.
Since the release of their critically acclaimed debut ‘At Our Next Meeting’, The Furrow Collective has been in demand as a touring band, gigging throughout Europe and performing BBC live sessions.
‘Wild Hog’ won them a nomination for Best Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
