WINDERMERE and Bowness Community Choir is joining choral ranks with Cor Bara Brith, a male voice choir from Anglesey, for a concert in aid of the RNLI.

The concert will be at Carver Uniting Church, Lake Road, Windermere on Saturday, March 24 (7.30pm).

The popular Welsh ensemble was formed in 2007 by former members of well-known male choir Lleisiau'r Frogwy, which has disbanded a few months earlier.

Accompanist Gwenda Roberts agreed to stay on and talented musician Huw Goronwy of Newborough, became conductor. The choir has one soloist, Trefor Williams, a tenor who has won many competitions. The choir's name comes from 'bara' which is bread as Anglesey provided flour for Wales for many hundreds of years; brith apparently refers to the grey hair of many of its members.

Tickets for the Windermere concert are available by telephone on 015394-45754 or at the door.
