REVELLERS will take to the fields for Cumbria's biggest music festival this weekend (August 27-29) Solfest will see Manchester indie heores James headlining the Main Stage along with acid-punks Alabama 3 and gentle indie rockers The Magic Numbers.
Over at the Bar Stage legendary punks The Damned will smash it up alongside ska’s first lady Pauline Black, of The Selecter.
Any self respecting folk fan would be well advised to catch The Goldheart Assembly, whilst reggae fans would be mad to miss the rocksteady beats of The Wailers.
Flying the flag for Cumbria are Ambleside indie kids Indian Postal Service, Kirkby Stephen folk-funk band The Righteous Bees and Carlisle electro act Burn the Negative as well as Lancaster duo The Lovely Eggs.
The festival takes place at The Tarns, near Wigton, in west Cumbria.
Organisers Simon Kay said: “If there are any tickets left we will be making them available to purchase on the gate. The way tickets have been selling recently we cannot guarantee that there will be any left, so rather than having people disappointed, we would recommend anyone wanting to attend to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.”
More than 100 acts will play at the eclectic festival across seven stages including The Bar Stage, Drystone stage, the Dance Tent and Acoustic Tent.
Elsewhere there will be open mics, children’s entertainment, workshops, site art, food stalls, an indoor market, a solar cinema and an on-site ale and cider festival.
Adult weekend tickets cost £89, children’s weekend tickets cost £25 for 6-11-year-olds, £62 for 12-16-year-olds and under 5s go free.
